If He's Ok...I am Ok.

I guess you could say that I have been hibernating from my blog.
There have been some things going on that have knocked the wind out of me and I just haven't felt like talking about parties, crafts or cupcakes. One of those things is that my Dad has been battling cancer and going through surgeries and treatments. He has had these weird kind of cancerous tumors under the skin on his face and they have been carving him up. He has maintained his usual humorous demeanor despite the rest of us. If this were happening to me, I would not leave the house
 and be drowning in self-pity.
He just had surgery again...(and kinda looks like the Joker right now) and even still he wants to go out to dinner, the movies, church and the store bandaged like a  "mummy-head" with raccoon eyes.
Yesterday he went to the grocery store with my mom and she told me that
everyone was staring at him.
When they got back to the car, he said to her,
"Man, I still GOT it! Did you see all those women staring at me since I lost all this weight?"

I just can't stop giggling everytime I think of it. How is it some people cope so well with crisis,
and others don't?

Well I decided if he can cope, I sure should be able to. So Cupcake-Vicki is back.

Hahahahahahahahahaha. Oh Gramps, he's a keeper.

I watched Elvis' Blue Hawaii yesterday while baking and I just kept thinking...those are Gramp's cheekbones!

In sum, I'd have a crush on Gramps the way I do on Elvis if it weren't weird....BUT HE DOES STILL HAVE IT.

And his personality is even better than the King's, just sayin'.

Grandpa seriously is the best. And he does still have it, that handsome devil. There is so much to learn from him. This just made my day.

Oh,sweet Vicki,
So sorry that your heart has been heavy but very glad to hear your dad is living his life with gusto! God is good to bless him with such a positive outlook and a reminder that regardless of outward appearances, the heart, soul, and substance is what matters. My prayers are with your family for improved health in the days ahead.

love you & miss you~
